Board Certified Behavior Analyst

Licensed Behavior Analyst

Dana Slackman is the Director and Senior Behavior Consultant at Dana Slackman Licensed Behavior Analyst PC, an agency which specializes in providing behavioral consultation services to Long Island school districts and families.

Ms. Slackman has over twenty years of experience in home and school environments, including her early career employment as a special education teacher in a self-contained classroom and as
a school-based speech therapist. Ms. Slackman has been a consultant offering expertise in support of the needs of students who require specialized services to succeed. Her focus is on assessing and reducing behaviors that interfere with skill development and classroom functioning. Challenging situations stimulate Ms. Slackman’s creativity in developing unique interventions. She has been credited with achieving striking improvements even when students present with the most challenging issues. Conducting in-depth assessments, both through direct classroom observation as well as working with the multi-disciplinary team, Ms. Slackman and her team effectively assess the needs of the students given the resources provided and make sound, budget conscious recommendations for students. With licensure and board certification as a behavior analyst and with NYS teaching certifications, Ms. Slackman has expertise in providing practical strategies provided directly to students, parents, teachers and other members of the team in school settings.

Ms. Slackman works with an experienced group of board certified behavior analysts who meet her rigorous standards. Her associates are subject to her continual oversight and quality control to ensure that the services being delivered are superior. They are experts in conducting Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs) and developing effective Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs). The plans are revised at appropriate intervals based on relevant data and observations.

Her staff is also able to provide initial and ongoing crisis intervention training throughout the school year if needed. School districts have realized the benefits of a contractual consulting relationship with Ms. Slackman’s agency. Practical and effective interventions for special needs students have resulted in measurable benefits. As a result, significant cost savings to school districts can be achieved by
keeping special needs students within their own buildings. Lastly, the agency can assist in some tasks typical of a school psychologist (case manager), thus alleviating potential bottlenecks when
support services are in great demand.
